Step 1 — Create and Verify Your MEXC Account
Start at MEXC's website and click "Sign Up." You can register with an email address or phone number. Choose a strong, unique password — never reuse passwords from other sites.
After registration, complete KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. MEXC requires KYC to lift withdrawal limits and access all platform features. The basic verification requires:
- Full legal name
- Date of birth
- Country of residence
- Government-issued ID (passport or national ID card)
- Selfie photo for identity confirmation
Basic KYC typically processes within minutes for most users. Advanced verification may be required for higher withdrawal limits. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) immediately after account creation — use an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy) rather than SMS 2FA for better security.
MEXC restricts access for US residents. Before creating an account, confirm your region is supported. See our full guide on MEXC US access for details and alternatives.
Step 2 — Deposit Funds (Crypto vs Fiat)
MEXC supports two primary deposit methods:
Crypto Deposit (Recommended)
Go to your MEXC wallet, select the asset you want to deposit (e.g., USDT), and choose the blockchain network. MEXC supports multiple networks including Ethereum (ERC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), Tron (TRC-20), and others. Copy the deposit address and send from your external wallet or exchange.
Network selection is critical. If you send USDT via TRC-20 but select the ERC-20 address on MEXC, your funds will be lost. Always confirm the network on both sides of the transfer before sending.
Fiat Deposit
MEXC offers fiat on-ramp options including credit/debit card purchases and bank transfers in supported regions. Fiat deposits typically carry higher fees than crypto deposits. Check MEXC's "Buy Crypto" section for current fiat options available in your country.
| Method | Speed | Typical Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crypto transfer (TRC-20 USDT) | 2–5 minutes | Near zero | Fastest, cheapest option |
| Crypto transfer (ERC-20 USDT) | 5–20 minutes | Ethereum gas fee | More expensive on mainnet |
| Credit/debit card | Instant | 1.5–3% | Convenient but costly |
| Bank transfer (P2P) | Minutes–hours | Variable | Region-dependent availability |
Step 3 — Navigate the MEXC Trading Interface
MEXC's spot trading interface follows a standard exchange layout. From left to right on the main trading page:
- Market pair list (left panel): Browse or search for trading pairs. Use the search bar to find a specific token. Filter by All, USDT, ETH, BTC, or other quote currencies.
- Price chart (center): Candlestick chart with volume bars. MEXC uses TradingView's chart library, so the interface is familiar if you've used TradingView before. Change timeframes using the toolbar above the chart.
- Order book (right of chart): Shows the current bid (buy) and ask (sell) orders. The spread between the highest bid and lowest ask is the cost of immediate execution.
- Order entry panel (below chart or right side): Where you place buy and sell orders. Tabs switch between Limit, Market, and Stop-Limit order types.
- Trade history (bottom): Your recent orders and fills for the current pair.
Step 4 — Placing Spot Orders (Limit, Market, Stop-Limit)
Understanding order types is foundational to avoiding expensive mistakes. Here's what each type does:
Limit Order
A limit order executes only at your specified price or better. If you place a limit buy at $50,000 for BTC, your order sits in the order book until the price reaches $50,000. You control the price but not the timing — or whether it fills at all.
Best for: Buying at support levels, selling at resistance, entering positions with price discipline.
Market Order
A market order executes immediately at the best available price. You control timing but not price. In liquid markets (BTC, ETH), the difference between expected and actual price (slippage) is minimal. In thin markets (small-cap altcoins), slippage can be severe.
Best for: Exiting positions urgently, or trading highly liquid pairs where slippage is negligible.
Stop-Limit Order
A stop-limit order combines a trigger price (stop) with an execution price (limit). When the market price reaches your stop, a limit order is placed at your limit price. This is used for stop-losses and conditional entries.
Example: You hold ETH at $3,000 and want a stop-loss if it drops to $2,800. Set stop at $2,800, limit at $2,790. When price hits $2,800, a sell limit order is placed at $2,790. Note: if price gaps below $2,790, the order may not fill — a risk of limit stops in volatile markets.
Step 5 — Reading Price Charts on MEXC
MEXC's built-in charts run on TradingView's charting library, giving you access to hundreds of indicators and drawing tools. For new traders, the essentials are:
- Candlestick charts: Each candle represents price action over a chosen period. Green (or white) candles close higher than they open; red (or black) candles close lower. The wick shows the high and low of the period.
- Volume bars: Below the main chart. High volume on a price move indicates conviction; low volume moves are less reliable.
- Moving averages: Add a 50 EMA or 200 SMA from the Indicators menu. These provide a smoothed view of trend direction.
- Timeframe selection: Start with the daily or 4-hour chart for context. Only drop to lower timeframes (1H, 15m) once you've established the larger trend.
For a deeper charting guide, see our TradingView for Crypto guide — all concepts apply directly to MEXC's built-in charts.
Step 6 — Withdrawing Your Funds Safely
To withdraw crypto from MEXC, go to your wallet, select Withdraw, choose the asset, enter the recipient address, select the network, and confirm the amount. MEXC will send a confirmation email or 2FA prompt before processing.
Key withdrawal safety rules:
- Always verify the withdrawal address: Copy-paste the address and double-check the first and last 6 characters. Malware exists that replaces clipboard addresses with an attacker's address.
- Send a test withdrawal: For large withdrawals, send a small test amount first to confirm the address is correct and the network is compatible.
- Check withdrawal minimums and fees: Each asset has a minimum withdrawal amount and a flat withdrawal fee. MEXC displays these before you confirm.
- Network confirmation times: Withdrawals require a set number of blockchain confirmations before the receiving wallet credits the funds. Bitcoin may require 1–6 confirmations; Ethereum-based assets are faster.
